Meet Our Holistic Skin Therapists:

Meet Our Holistic Skin Therapists:

Meet Julianna and Meagan. With a love of skincare and a passion for taking special care of their clients, these babes have transformed our facial services. And trust us when we say, what they have to offer is like nothing you’ll find anywhere else. They’ve done the work, devoted themselves to honing their craft, and are fostering a holistic experience that’s truly transformative. Take a moment to learn more about each of them and what drives them to do what they do.

Julianna //

Born and raised in Orange County, Julianna found herself in various types of jobs, from restaurants to retail to interior design, but always knew skincare was her biggest passion. “ I started my own skincare ritual when I was 11, continuing it through my teens and 20’s before figuring out that it was more than just a ritual to me. When I realized that I could help people through skincare, everything fell into alignment,” she says.

She continues, “I graduated with my estheticians license in January 2018 and immediately started taking advanced courses, like Gua Sha and Dr. Vodder's Manual Lymphatic Drainage. I started working at Pop Society while in school in 2017 and have been offering holistic facials since early 2018.” Although she didn’t grow up living a ‘holistic’ lifestyle, her curiosity to learn more about working with the skin as a whole has always been what’s driven her career. “Learning and utilizing  modalities that have been practiced for centuries around the world is a humbling experience for me and has led to so many incredible transformations for my clients.”

What are your hobbies outside of your passion for skincare?

Art is my second love; many forms of it, but my main passion is painting. To me, the process is similar to giving a facial but with a different medium. I have this canvas in front of me with all kinds of components to mix up with my brushes (or sometimes my hands!) with the goal of creating beauty. Lately I’ve been experimenting with earth pigment paints to create eco-friendly paintings...maybe they’ll show themselves in the treatment room soon!

I also love interior design. A lot of my spare time is spent on Pinterest adding to my interior inspiration board and rearranging things at home. I’ve always felt that space has a huge impact on the way we feel, how we act, and how we think, so naturally I was drawn to a well-designed space like Pop!

What brought you to Pop Society?

During my time in esthetics school I had a friend introduce me to Pop. When I saw photos of the space I knew this was where I wanted to be. Pop was full of beauty in every way, from the results clients achieved with their artists to the decor and plant-filled space. Yvette’s vision of building a non-toxic, eco-friendly salon with the goal of incorporating skincare one day was what sealed the deal for me. Hard to believe it’s been 4 years!

What kind of experience do you hope to create for your clients?

My goal is to create an experience that is transformational, whether it’s their first facial or their 100th facial. In the beginning of their treatment, I hope to help them transform the way they see their skin; the dynamic, communicative living organ that it is. During the treatment, I want my clients to feel like they are transforming into a weightless, renewed version of themselves with skin to match (through the plant based skincare and massages), being fully immersed in this moment they’ve given to themselves. After their facial, I want to help them transform their skin with their skin goals in mind by providing them with a customized at home skincare plan - providing resources, ideas, and support along the way.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to anyone looking to pursue a career in skincare?

Keep learning! The investment in continued education is so important as esthetics school typically provides you with the basis of how to care for the skin. There are so many course offerings these days to choose from so go with what lights you up. And if nothing does quite yet, try different things! You won’t regret learning something new and you never know where your interests will lead you.

What’s one general piece of skincare advice we could all follow.

Don’t neglect your neck and décolleté! From cleansing to moisturizing and masking, applying product down your neck to your décolleté assists in the flow of lymph. And remember to apply SPF in those areas too!

Meagan //

Raised nomadically as a kind, with long stints in Southern California, Meagan feels a true sense of home in the many places she’s lived - including the Fijian Islands; a place she spent a big chunk of her time. “It was this unique upbringing that exposed me to the various cultural perceptions of beauty that would initially inspire me to begin practicing esthetics in 2006,” she says.

What are your hobbies outside of your passion for skincare?

I love music.  As a singer and songwriter, I can sometimes be found playing shows locally in one of the many groups I collaborate with.  I am also a studying herbalist, permaculture student, surfer, ecstatic dancer, and enjoy experimenting in the kitchen.

What brought you to Pop Society?

Destiny.  As the newest member of Pop Society, I thank my lucky stars every day I have found a heart-home for my practice, one that reflects so much of my own personal vision. Working in such a beautifully curated space alongside such a lovely community of talent is truly a dream come true.

What kind of experience do you hope to create for your clients?

My aim is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for exploration into the self.  My sessions are custom tailored to your unique state-of-being. No two appointments are ever alike. Through conscientious consultation and two decades of experience, I assist in unlocking the mysteries and miracles of your skin, and help to interpret what your body is trying to communicate through it. Each highly personalized protocol consists of 100% organic/non-toxic skincare alongside state of the art technologies and highly impactful massage techniques. My aim is not to tame the skin, but to find it's most vibrant state of health and balance.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to anyone looking to pursue a career in skincare?

Know where beauty really comes from.  As modern aestheticians, I believe it is our duty to correct the mentality that perfection is the end goal.  Perfection does not exist in nature and a fine line, breakout, or patch of pigmentation won’t ever change how beautiful someone truly is. True beauty comes from knowing and loving who you are. A skin therapist should not only support the body’s natural functions, we need to be able to support the individual along their journey of self love.

What’s one general piece of skincare advice we could all follow.

Only 2% of the water you drink ever reaches your skin.  Topical hydration is key! Mists should not be reserved for only morning and night skincare routines.  A light spritz of botanical hydrosol throughout the day helps to keep the skin dewy, fresh, and moisturized without adding additional weight.

For so long, people had the perception that facials only went skin deep, that they were just about scrubbing and extractions. These girls are here to change the game and help our clients see how much of how they care for their skin resides below the surface. If you’re ready for a relaxing, transcendent facial experience, book yours today. Also, you can follow both Julianna and Meagan on IG for more skin and self-care inspiration.
